This bill mandates specific actions for law enforcement officers when they receive a request from a parent or guardian to remove a child from a home where illegal drugs are suspected to be used in the child's presence. The officers are required to secure and remove the illegal drugs, place them into evidence, and forward the request to the State Central Registry for referral to a child protective investigator. Additionally, they must request an immediate response from the investigator and coordinate with them during the investigation.

The bill also directs the Department of Children and Families, in collaboration with the Department of Law and Public Safety, to establish rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this act. The legislation is designed to enhance the protection of children in environments where illegal drug use is present, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken swiftly to address potential child abuse or neglect. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
