The Gaming Cybersecurity Intelligence and Response Council Act establishes a new council within the Division of Gaming Enforcement in New Jersey, aimed at enhancing cybersecurity in the state's gaming industry. The council will consist of seven members, including the director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement, the director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, and five members appointed by the Governor from licensed casino and sportsbook operators and public institutions of higher education with cybersecurity centers. The council is tasked with facilitating strategic coordination among regulators, operators, and cybersecurity experts, and will hold meetings at least twice a year.
Additionally, the council is authorized to develop confidential briefings and training exercises for casino and sports wagering licensees, disseminate cybersecurity threat alerts, and participate in national cybersecurity forums. An annual report summarizing the council's activities and providing recommendations for improving cybersecurity in the gaming industry will be submitted to the Governor and the Legislature. This report will include a non-sensitive summary of cybersecurity trends, an overview of council activities, and recommendations, while ensuring that sensitive information is redacted to protect cybersecurity defenses and operational integrity.
