This bill amends Section 10 of P.L.2007, c.260 (C.18A:7F-52) to exclude nonpublic school transportation costs from the calculation of a school district's local share when determining state school aid. Specifically, it introduces a new variable, NPT, which represents the amount spent by the district in the prebudget year for the transportation of nonpublic school pupils eligible for transportation. This amount will be subtracted from the calculation of the local share, which is based on the district's property wealth and income.

The bill aims to adjust the financial formula used to allocate equalization aid to school districts by ensuring that nonpublic transportation expenses do not negatively impact the local share calculation. By doing so, it seeks to provide a more equitable distribution of state aid to school districts, allowing them to retain more funding for public education purposes. The act will take effect immediately and will apply to the first full school year following its enactment.
