This bill mandates the Division of Consumer Affairs within the Department of Law and Public Safety to establish and maintain an open data portal on its website. The portal will provide public access to non-confidential statistical datasets, which will include information such as the number of applications for licensure, average processing times, active licenses, and consumer complaints. The division is required to update this portal at least annually and ensure that the datasets are sortable by professional or occupational board and include year-by-year comparisons.
Additionally, the bill emphasizes that all datasets made available must adhere to the open public records act and other relevant state and federal laws concerning information security and privacy. This ensures that only data permissible for public disclosure will be included in the portal. The act is set to take effect on the first day of the ninth month following its enactment, although the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs may take necessary administrative actions in advance for its implementation.
