The bill mandates that retail establishments in New Jersey disclose the portion of a product's retail price that is attributable to tariffs and trade-related import taxes. This disclosure must be made visible on price tags, online product pages, or printed sales receipts. Retail establishments generating less than $500,000 in annual revenue and products with a tariff-related price impact of less than two percent are exempt from these requirements. Additionally, if precise disclosure is impractical due to raw material inputs or other factors, retailers may indicate that the price has been affected by tariffs in a manner determined by the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs.

To ensure compliance, the bill stipulates that retail establishments will undergo periodic audits, with the Director determining the compliance requirements. Violations of the act may result in fines up to $500 per occurrence. The Director is also tasked with creating regulations for calculating and displaying the tariff portion of retail prices, as well as maintaining a public list of exempt commodities and retail establishments. The act will take effect 90 days after enactment, although the Director may take necessary administrative actions beforehand.
