This bill amends existing legislation to streamline the credentialing process for physicians in New Jersey who wish to participate in a carrier's provider network. It mandates that carriers offering managed care plans must accept a universal physician application and renewal form for credentialing purposes. Notably, an application will be automatically approved if it demonstrates that the physician's license, as issued by the State Board of Medical Examiners, is in good standing.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that while the carrier must accept the universal application, they are still permitted to request additional information from applicants, provided it does not duplicate information already included in the application form. This legislation aims to facilitate quicker access for physicians to participate in healthcare networks, thereby improving service delivery in the state. The act is set to take effect immediately for applications received on or after the effective date.
