This bill mandates the Division of Consumer Affairs within the Department of Law and Public Safety to establish and maintain an open data portal on its website. The portal will provide public access to various non-confidential statistical datasets, which include information on applications for licensure, registration, or certification, processing times, active licenses, examination passage rates, and consumer complaints. The division is required to update this portal at least annually and ensure that the datasets are sortable by professional or occupational board and include year-by-year comparisons.
Additionally, the bill emphasizes that all datasets must adhere to the open public records act and other relevant state and federal laws concerning information security and privacy, ensuring that no non-disclosable data is included. The act will take effect on the first day of the ninth month following its enactment, although the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs is permitted to take necessary administrative actions in advance for its implementation.
