This bill mandates that the Commissioner of Human Services, in collaboration with the Secretary of Higher Education, create general program information regarding the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This information will include a link to the SNAP application and a link to NJ 211, which serves as a statewide resource for health, emergency, and human services assistance.
Furthermore, the bill requires that each public institution of higher education provide this information alongside its initial offer of admission and via email during each semester's registration. Institutions must also include details about any food assistance programs, pantries, meal swipe initiatives, or similar resources available either on campus or within the community. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
