The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society was established in 1905 to organize the festival, which has since expanded to attract approximately 75,000 attendees each year, offering a variety of Italian food, cultural activities, games, carnival rides, and fireworks.

The resolution emphasizes the festival's significance in promoting New Jersey's cultural heritage, particularly among the Italian-American community, which comprises over one million residents in the state. It highlights the economic impact of such events, noting that visitors contributed more than $49 billion to New Jersey's economy in 2023. The resolution calls for the recognition of the festival's 150th anniversary on July 16, 2025, as a means to celebrate and promote the state's rich cultural, historical, and recreational resources. Copies of the resolution will be sent to the Mayor of Hammonton and the President of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society.
