This bill mandates that county welfare agencies in New Jersey provide financial planning services to clients upon request, at no cost and during regular operating hours, through qualified staff members. If a qualified staff member is unavailable, the agency must direct clients to the Department of the Treasury's free personal finance web-based platform, known as NJ FinLit, or any future platforms provided by the department or the State. Additionally, the bill requires agencies to promote the availability of these financial planning services and the NJ FinLit platform on their websites and in their physical offices.
To support the implementation of these provisions, the bill appropriates necessary funds from the General Fund to the Department of Human Services for allocation to county welfare agencies. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
