This bill prohibits health care professionals from providing gender-affirming health care services to individuals under the age of 21. It defines gender-affirming health care services as all medical, surgical, therapeutic, diagnostic, preventative, rehabilitative, or supportive care related to the treatment of gender dysphoria and gender incongruence, explicitly excluding behavioral health, mental health, or psychiatric services. Health care professionals found in violation of this prohibition will face disciplinary action for professional misconduct.
Additionally, the bill mandates that the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs and the Commissioner of Health adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement its provisions. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
