This bill amends Nosey's Law (P.L.2018, c.141) to expand the definition of "wild or exotic animals" by removing previous exclusions for certain domestic species, including cattle, bison, domestic dogs, domestic cats, horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules. It also adds two new classifications, lagomorpha (rabbits and hares) and rodentia (rodents), to the list of animals prohibited from use in traveling animal acts. As a result, it will be illegal to use these animals in performances that require transportation in mobile housing facilities.
Additionally, the bill modifies the exceptions to the prohibition by specifying that outreach programs for educational or conservation purposes must be conducted at an educational institution, thereby limiting the circumstances under which these animals can be used. This change aims to ensure that the use of wild or exotic animals in traveling acts is more strictly regulated, promoting animal welfare and conservation efforts.
