This bill amends current law regarding the employment requirements for the New Jersey Racing Commission by eliminating the five-year residency requirement for its employees. Previously, individuals seeking employment with the commission were required to have been actual residents of New Jersey for at least five years. The bill removes this stipulation, allowing for a broader pool of candidates for various positions within the commission.
In addition to the residency requirement change, the bill maintains the existing provisions regarding the appointment and compensation of the commission's executive director, chief inspector, and other employees. It also reiterates that no person employed by the commission can have any official relation or financial interest in any horse racing association or corporation. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
