This bill amends current law regarding the employment requirements for the New Jersey Racing Commission by eliminating the five-year residency requirement for its employees. Previously, individuals seeking employment with the commission were required to have been actual residents of New Jersey for at least five years. The bill removes this stipulation, allowing for a broader pool of candidates for various positions within the commission.
The bill also maintains the existing provisions regarding the appointment and compensation of the commission's commissioners and executive director, as well as the prohibition against employing individuals with conflicts of interest related to horse racing associations or corporations. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
