This bill mandates the establishment of a public awareness campaign regarding the risks of gambling and the resources available for compulsive gamblers in New Jersey. The Director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Health, is tasked with creating and implementing this campaign through various media outlets, including newspapers, radio, social media, and television advertisements, within 180 days of the bill's enactment. The campaign will focus on educating the public about the risks and consequences of gambling, the addiction rates associated with it, and the support resources available for those affected.
Additionally, the bill appropriates $200,000 from the General Fund to the Division of Gaming Enforcement to facilitate the development and implementation of the campaign. The Director is also required to report back to the Governor and the Legislature on the campaign's activities and accomplishments within 24 months of the bill's effective date.
