The resolution condemns President Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Accord, an international agreement aimed at limiting global temperature increases and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It highlights the Accord's significance, noting that it was signed by 195 countries and emphasizes the importance of the U.S. remaining a leader in global climate efforts. The resolution points out that New Jersey, along with 23 other states in the United States Climate Alliance, has committed to the goals of the Accord, reflecting the majority opinion of Americans who view climate change as a significant threat.

Furthermore, the resolution argues that the withdrawal will lead to increased environmental and economic damages due to climate change, undermining both the U.S.'s diplomatic standing and its leadership in renewable energy technologies. It calls on the President to reconsider his decision and rejoin the Accord, asserting that it is crucial for the U.S. to participate in global efforts to combat climate change and protect the environment. The resolution will be communicated to the President, Vice-President, and members of Congress from New Jersey.
