This bill mandates the Commissioner of Community Affairs, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Transportation, to conduct a study focused on vehicle parking in urban areas, particularly in communities where parking is limited. The study will assess existing federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to vehicle parking, including signage on streets and designated parking areas. It will also identify opportunities for eliminating, placing, or updating signage to enhance parking availability.
The Commissioner is required to submit a written report detailing the study's findings and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature within two years of the bill's enactment. Additionally, the report must be made publicly accessible on the Department of Community Affairs' website. The bill will take effect immediately and will expire upon the submission of the required report.
