This bill mandates the Commissioner of Community Affairs, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Transportation, to conduct a study focused on vehicle parking in urban areas, particularly in communities where parking is limited. The study will evaluate existing federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to vehicle parking, including signage on streets and designated parking areas. It will also identify opportunities for eliminating, placing, or updating signage to enhance parking availability.
The findings and recommendations from the study must be compiled into a written report and submitted to the Governor and the Legislature within two years of the bill's enactment. Additionally, the report is required to be published on the Department of Community Affairs' website for public access. The bill will take effect immediately and will expire upon the submission of the required report.
