This bill mandates the Department of Human Services (DHS) to create an enhanced training curriculum specifically for direct support professionals who work with individuals with developmental disabilities. The DHS is required to establish this curriculum within 120 days of the bill's effective date, and it must be completed by new employees within 90 days of their employment start date. For those already employed as direct support professionals before the bill's effective date, they must complete the training within 210 days.

The training curriculum will cover essential topics, including the prevention of abuse and neglect, first aid, CPR, medication administration, facility policies, feeding techniques, resident mobility procedures, and care for individuals with specific health needs such as seizure disorders, disabilities like multiple sclerosis, and behavioral and mental health issues. The Commissioner of Human Services is also authorized to adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this act.
