This bill mandates that boards of education provide a no-fee option for parents and guardians to make payments for school meals, field trips, activity fees, and other services. It also requires that any payment processing platforms used by school districts must clearly inform users about all fees associated with the platform, the average annual fees incurred, and the availability of the no-fee payment option. This aims to ensure that families are aware of their payment choices and can avoid unnecessary fees.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that any communication from the board or associated schools requesting payments must include information about the no-fee direct payment option and the fees related to any payment processing platforms. The provisions of this act also extend to the boards of trustees of charter schools, ensuring that all educational institutions adhere to these requirements. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
