This bill mandates the Superintendent of State Police to create a maternity policy specifically for State troopers who provide proof of pregnancy. The policy must include a minimum of eight weeks of continuous maternity recovery leave following childbirth, during which troopers will receive full pay and benefits. Importantly, this recovery leave will not be classified as sick leave or deducted from sick leave balances. Additionally, during the maternity recovery leave, troopers will not be subjected to residency restrictions or integrity checks that may apply to other forms of medical leave.

Furthermore, the bill requires the superintendent to provide accessible information regarding the maternity policy on the Division of State Police's intranet. This information must include relevant policies and forms that troopers need to complete before and after their recovery leave, answers to frequently asked questions, and contact details for inquiries about the maternity policy. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
