This bill establishes a three-year School Supervisor Mentorship Pilot Program aimed at enhancing the school leadership pipeline across New Jersey by providing support and development for novice supervisors in their first year of supervisory roles. The program will be overseen by the Commissioner of Education, who is tasked with developing guidelines based on established professional standards and partnering with a nonprofit organization experienced in mentoring services. Novice supervisors interested in participating must submit an application, and the commissioner will select a new cohort of participants annually, ensuring representation from various regions and types of schools.

Participants in the program will be grouped and required to meet with a mentor for at least 15 hours during the school year, along with engaging in additional professional learning opportunities. At the conclusion of the pilot program, the commissioner, in collaboration with the nonprofit partner, will prepare a report evaluating the program's effectiveness and offering recommendations for its future. To support this initiative, the bill appropriates $500,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Education for implementation.
