The bill mandates the Department of Human Services (DHS) to initiate a public awareness campaign aimed at educating women and birthing persons in New Jersey about the benefits of certified doula and licensed midwife services, as well as the availability of NJ FamilyCare coverage for these services. The campaign will utilize both print and electronic media to disseminate information on various aspects of care provided by doulas and midwives, including person-centered care during prenatal, birthing, and postpartum periods, culturally competent services, the continuum of well-woman care, and the associated health benefits that improve maternal and infant health outcomes.

Additionally, the DHS is required to maintain an easily accessible section on its website that outlines the types of care provided by doulas and midwives, the health benefits of such care, and details regarding NJ FamilyCare coverage. The website will also feature a directory of NJ FamilyCare-approved doulas and midwives, along with information on the managed care plans they participate in, which will be updated at least annually. The bill aims to enhance awareness and accessibility of doula and midwife services for eligible women in New Jersey.
