This bill mandates the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) to collaboratively develop and implement a Wildlife Corridor Action Plan within 24 months of the bill's effective date. The plan aims to identify wildlife corridors, hotspots for wildlife-vehicle collisions, and barriers to wildlife movement, while prioritizing projects that enhance both driver safety and wildlife connectivity. The plan is required to be updated every ten years and must incorporate existing conservation strategies and relevant state databases. Additionally, the DEP and DOT are authorized to seek advice and services from other state and federal agencies, as well as conservation organizations, to ensure the plan's effectiveness.

To facilitate the implementation of this initiative, the bill appropriates $90,000 from the General Fund to be distributed between the DEP and DOT as needed. Both departments are also empowered to adopt necessary regulations under the "Administrative Procedure Act" to carry out the provisions of the bill. Overall, this legislation aims to enhance wildlife safety and movement across the state while promoting collaboration among various agencies and organizations.
