This bill amends current law to expand the list of establishments where the Commission on Human Trafficking is required to post public awareness signage regarding human trafficking. The new signage must include information about the national, 24-hour toll-free hotline for reporting suspected human trafficking. The bill specifies that the signage should be displayed in a conspicuous location within various establishments, including gas stations, staffing agencies, law enforcement offices, nail salons, and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission offices, among others.

Additionally, the bill establishes penalties for non-compliance, imposing a civil penalty of $300 for a first offense and $1,000 for subsequent offenses. The public awareness signs must meet specific size and font requirements, ensuring they are easily readable. This legislative change aims to enhance public awareness and reporting of human trafficking incidents across a broader range of locations in New Jersey.
