This bill amends existing legislation concerning human trafficking by expanding the list of establishments where the Commission on Human Trafficking is required to post public awareness signage. The signage must include information on how to identify and report suspected human trafficking, specifically featuring the national, 24-hour toll-free hotline. The bill specifies that the signage should be displayed in a conspicuous location within various establishments, including strip clubs, massage therapy businesses, bars, airports, and public transportation facilities, among others.

The new additions to the list of establishments required to display the signage include gas stations, staffing agencies, State, county, and municipal law enforcement offices, nail salons, and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission offices. The bill also establishes penalties for non-compliance, with a civil penalty of $300 for a first offense and $1,000 for subsequent offenses. This expansion aims to enhance public awareness and reporting of human trafficking incidents across a broader range of locations.
