This bill amends existing laws regarding student identification cards for both public schools and institutions of higher education in New Jersey. It mandates that student ID cards for grades seven through twelve and for higher education institutions must include printed contact information for mental health and suicide crisis resources, as determined by the Commissioner of Human Services in consultation with the relevant educational authorities. Additionally, schools and institutions may also provide contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or other mental health support services.

The bill specifies that these changes will take effect immediately and will apply to new and replacement student identification cards issued in the first full school year or academic year following the enactment date of July 22, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance mental health awareness and provide critical resources to students in need.
