The bill amends existing legislation concerning ticket sales for events that are postponed. It mandates that resellers and ticket resale websites must provide a full refund to purchasers if an event is postponed, with the exception of handling and delivery fees, provided that this exclusion is clearly disclosed to the buyer. Additionally, in lieu of a refund, resellers may offer a credit equal to the purchase price of the ticket, excluding handling and delivery fees, again contingent on prior disclosure. Refunds must be made available for 30 days following the announcement of the postponement.
Furthermore, the bill clarifies that refunds are also required if a ticket does not grant admission due to reasons such as being counterfeit or canceled by the issuer. The legislation aims to enhance consumer protection for individuals purchasing tickets through resellers, ensuring they are not left without recourse in the event of cancellations or postponements.
