This bill amends existing election laws to enhance transparency in the process of drawing ballot positions for candidates in primary, general, and school board elections. It stipulates that each candidate or their designee, as well as a designated member from each political party, has the right to be present during the drawing of lots that determines ballot positions. They are also granted the authority to inspect the materials used in the drawing, including the paper slips or cards with candidate names, the capsules or boxes containing them, before the drawing begins, after each name is drawn, and at the conclusion of the drawing.

Additionally, the bill mandates that election officials must provide notice to candidates and political parties regarding the date, time, and location of the drawing at least 72 hours in advance. This requirement aims to ensure that all parties involved are adequately informed and can participate in the process, thereby promoting fairness and accountability in the electoral system. The bill is set to take effect on January 1 following its enactment.
