This bill establishes the New Jersey Human Trafficking Criminal Registry, which will provide the public with information about individuals convicted of specific human trafficking offenses who are currently incarcerated, on parole, or participating in a residential community release program. The registry will be organized into four categories, detailing the names, sentences, places of incarceration, parole eligibility, and criminal history of those convicted of human trafficking-related crimes. Additionally, the bill mandates the Attorney General to create educational curricula on human trafficking for various sectors, including law enforcement, healthcare, and education, to enhance awareness and response to human trafficking cases.

The bill also includes provisions for mandatory training courses for police officers, hotel and motel staff, and healthcare employees to ensure they are equipped to identify and respond to human trafficking situations. It emphasizes the importance of age-appropriate human trafficking prevention education in schools, covering topics such as online safety and recognizing grooming tactics. Furthermore, the Attorney General is tasked with collaborating with the Commissioner of Transportation to provide training for transportation companies on recognizing and reporting suspected human trafficking. The act is set to take effect six months after its enactment, with anticipatory actions allowed for its implementation.
