SYNOPSIS

Establishes temporary grant program for pharmacies; appropriates $10 million.

An Act concerning grants for pharmacies and making an appropriation.

 

Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

1. a. The Department of Human Services shall establish a temporary grant program to aid pharmacies, which are experiencing financial difficulties, due to federal rules that increase direct and indirect remuneration fees, in a manner to be determined by the Commissioner of Human Services.

b. The Commissioner of Human Services shall establish and publish application procedures and eligibility requirements for the grant program established pursuant to subsection a. of this section.

 

2. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Human Services such sums as may be necessary to effectuate the purposes of this act, but not to exceed $10,000,000, as shall be determined by the Commissioner of Human Services.

 

3. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire upon the distribution of all funds appropriated for the purposes of this act.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This bill establishes a temporary grant program for pharmacies and appropriates $10 million for this purpose.

Under the bill, the Department of Human Services is to establish a temporary grant program to aid pharmacies, which are experiencing financial difficulties, due to federal rules that increase direct and indirect remuneration fees, in a manner to be determined by the Commissioner of Human Services.

The bill provides that the Commissioner of Human Services is to establish and publish application procedures and eligibility requirements for the grant program.

Finally, the bill appropriates $10 million to the Department of Human Services to effectuate the purposes of the bill.
