Designates March 31 of each year as Jack Antonoff Day in New Jersey.

A Joint Resolution designating March 31 of each year as Jack Antonoff Day in New Jersey.
 
Whereas, Jack Antonoff was born in Bergenfield, New Jersey and is a well-known musician and producer; and
Whereas, He is currently the lead vocalist for the band Bleachers, guitarist and drummer for Fun, and was the lead vocalist for Steel Train; and
Whereas, He has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award and has won ten Grammy Awards, including three consecutive Producer of the Year Awards; and
Whereas, He is best known for his work writing and producing much of Taylor Swifts music; and
Whereas, Jack Antonoffs impact on modern pop music is undeniable, having worked with artists including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Sara Bareilles, the 1975, Lorde, St. Vincent, Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey, Sabrina Carpenter, Fifth Harmony, Kevin Abstract, Carly Rae Jepsen, the Chicks, Tegan and Sara, and Clairo; and
Whereas, He founded the Ally Coalition with Rachel Antonoff, which is committed to bettering the lives of LGBTQ youth through tours, social media campaigns, and collaborative partnerships, providing meaningful support to organizations serving LGBTQ youth; and
Whereas, With the Ally Coalitions unique connection to the entertainment industry, the artists they partner with use their platforms to raise awareness of the systemic inequalities facing the LGBTQ population and activate prominent members of the creative community and their fan bases to engage with these issues in meaningful and impactful ways; and
Whereas, The Ally Coalition engages thousands of fans to take action on the North American and European tours of artists including Troye Sivan, PVRIS, Frank Turner, and Bleachers; and
Whereas, The Ally Coalition worked with Janet Mock to gather 40,000 people to support transgender students and produces an annual talent show in New York City headlined with talented and groundbreaking artists such as Taylor Swift, Lorde, the National, Hayley Kiyoko, Sasheer Zamata, and Lana Del Rey; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
 
1. March 31 of each year is
designated as Jack Antonoff Day to recognize the impact of Jack Antonoff on
modern pop music and his support for LGBTQ youth.
2. The Governor is respectfully requested to issue an annual proclamation calling upon public officials, citizens of the State, and other interested groups to observe Jack Antonoff Day with appropriate programs and activities.
 
3. This joint resolution shall take effect immediately.
 
 
STATEMENT
 
This joint resolution designates March 31 of each year as Jack Antonoff Day to recognize the musician and producers contributions to modern pop music and his support for LGBTQ youth. Jack Antonoff was born in Bergenfield, New Jersey on March 31, 1984, and is currently the lead vocalist for the band Bleachers, guitarist and drummer for Fun, and was the lead vocalist for Steel Train. He has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award and has won ten Grammy Awards, including three consecutive Producer of the Year Awards.
