The bill establishes the Task Force on Aging in New Jersey within the Department of Health, aimed at studying and improving the resources and services available to the state's older residents. The task force will consist of 17 members, including ex-officio members such as the Commissioners of Health and Human Services, the Public Guardian, and the New Jersey Long Term Care Ombudsman, along with public members appointed by the Governor based on recommendations from legislative leaders and various organizations that advocate for or provide services to senior citizens. The public members will serve staggered terms of three years, with initial appointments varying in length, and the Commissioner of Health will serve as the chairperson.

The task force's duties include reviewing existing policies and programs for older residents, analyzing data related to aging, examining support for family caregivers, evaluating long-term care quality, and establishing educational programs for seniors on various issues affecting their quality of life. Additionally, the task force is tasked with ensuring that state policies are inclusive of diverse characteristics within the population. It is required to report its recommendations to the Governor and Legislature within 18 months of its formation and to provide biennial updates thereafter.
