Furthermore, the bill introduces a prohibition on municipalities collecting development fees from developers constructing affordable units, whether on-site or elsewhere within the municipality. However, this prohibition does not apply to the Statewide development fee imposed on non-residential development by the State Treasurer, which municipalities are not authorized to retain. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage, promoting the integration of essential services like childcare within affordable housing developments to foster a supportive environment for families in need.
