The bill establishes the Home Security Systems Anti-Burglary Task Force within the Department of Law and Public Safety, aimed at studying and recommending improvements for home security systems designed to prevent residential burglaries. The task force will consist of 14 members, including the chairperson of the Fire Alarm, Burglar Alarm and Locksmith Advisory Committee, the Attorney General, the Superintendent of State Police, representatives from various security and law enforcement organizations, and four public members appointed by the Governor with relevant experience in locksmithing and alarm systems.
The task force is required to prepare and submit a report to the Governor and the Legislature within six months of its organization, detailing recommendations for enhancing home security and anti-burglary measures, including potential legislative or regulatory actions. The task force will expire upon submission of this report. Members will serve without compensation but can be reimbursed for necessary expenses incurred in their official duties.
