The bill establishes the Task Force on Aging in New Jersey within the Department of Health, aimed at studying and improving the resources and services available to the state's older residents. The task force will consist of 17 members, including ex-officio members such as the Commissioners of Health and Human Services, the Public Guardian, and the New Jersey Long Term Care Ombudsman, along with public members appointed by the Governor based on recommendations from legislative leaders and various organizations that advocate for or provide services to senior citizens. The public members will serve staggered terms of three years, with initial appointments varying in length, and will include representatives from organizations focused on aging, healthcare professionals, and individuals aged 65 and older.

The task force's responsibilities include reviewing existing policies and programs for older residents, analyzing data related to aging, supporting family caregivers, evaluating long-term care quality, and establishing educational programs on issues affecting seniors. Additionally, the task force is tasked with ensuring that state policies are inclusive of diverse populations. It is required to report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature within 18 months of its formation and to provide biennial updates thereafter.
