The bill establishes the Task Force on Aging in New Jersey within the Department of Health, aimed at studying and improving the resources and services available to the state's older residents. The task force will consist of 17 members, including ex-officio members such as the Commissioners of Health and Human Services, the Public Guardian, and the New Jersey Long Term Care Ombudsman, along with public members appointed by the Governor based on recommendations from legislative leaders and various organizations that advocate for or provide services to senior citizens. The public members will serve staggered terms of one to three years, and the task force will be chaired by the Commissioner of Health or a designee.

The duties of the task force include reviewing existing policies and programs for older residents, analyzing data related to aging, examining support for family caregivers, and evaluating quality of care in long-term facilities. Additionally, the task force will establish educational programs for seniors on various issues affecting their quality of life and ensure that state policies are inclusive of diverse populations. The task force is required to report its recommendations to the Governor and Legislature within 18 months of its formation and to provide biennial updates thereafter.
