This bill mandates the Commissioner of Education, in collaboration with the Director of the Division of Criminal Justice, to create a sexual assault prevention training program specifically for high school athletic directors and coaches involved in interscholastic sports. The training will cover essential topics such as the prevention of sexual assault, recognizing its signs, and providing information on available services for victims, including treatment, counseling, legal, and medical assistance, in line with established protocols by the Attorney General. The Commissioner is also tasked with updating the program as needed to ensure it remains current.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association must require all coaches and athletic directors overseeing interscholastic high school sports to complete this training program every four years. Newly appointed coaches and athletic directors are required to complete the training within their first year in the position. This initiative aims to enhance awareness and prevention of sexual assault within high school sports programs.
