This bill mandates the Commissioner of Education, in collaboration with the Director of the Division of Criminal Justice, to create a sexual assault prevention training program specifically for high school athletic directors and coaches involved in interscholastic sports. The training will cover essential topics such as the prevention of sexual assault, recognizing its signs, and providing information on available services for victims, including treatment, counseling, legal, and medical assistance, in line with the protocols established by the Attorney General. The Commissioner is also tasked with updating the program as needed to ensure it remains current.

Additionally, the bill requires the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association to enforce that all coaches and athletic directors of public and nonpublic school interscholastic high school sports complete this training program every four years. Newly appointed coaches and athletic directors must complete the training within their first year in the position. This initiative aims to enhance awareness and preparedness regarding sexual assault prevention within high school sports programs.
