This bill mandates that law enforcement officers in New Jersey complete an approved educational program to be certified in the administration of epinephrine auto-injector devices for emergency situations. Officers are required to provide their employing agency with a certificate of completion from this program. The definition of a law enforcement officer is specified as any permanent full-time member of an enforcement agency with the authority to enforce criminal laws and who has completed a training course approved by the Police Training Commission.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that each police department or force must ensure that every law enforcement officer has access to at least one dose of an epinephrine auto-injector device while performing their official duties. These devices must also be available in all police vehicles or medical supply kits, adhering to the standards and guidelines set by the Commissioner of Health. The act is set to take effect six months after its enactment.
