This bill mandates the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) to establish and maintain an emergency hotline specifically for veterans memorial homes. The hotline is intended to be prominently advertised within the homes and on the department's website, ensuring that residents, staff, and visitors can easily access it. The hotline will serve as a reporting mechanism for various emergencies, including suspected abuse, self-harm, suicide, neglect, exploitation, criminal acts, significant injuries or deaths, financial matters, and the evacuation of patients or residents.

Additionally, the bill specifies that the emergency hotline should utilize the number 555, if available, as its emergency response number. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and well-being of individuals within the veterans memorial homes by providing a direct and accessible means for reporting critical incidents and emergencies. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
