The resolution establishes the New Jersey Cybersecurity Task Force, aimed at assessing and providing recommendations to the Executive Branch and Legislature regarding the increasing cybersecurity threats faced by residents and businesses in New Jersey. The task force will focus on identifying potential cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, mitigating risks to prevent cyber breaches, and developing strategies for recovery from such threats. It will consist of 11 members, including key state officials and five public members appointed by the Governor, representing various sectors such as municipal governance, business, accounting, education, and cybersecurity expertise.
The task force is required to hold its initial organizational meeting within 45 days of the resolution's enactment, during which members will elect a chairperson and vice-chairperson. They will serve without compensation, although public members will be reimbursed for necessary expenses. The task force is expected to report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and Legislature within one year of its formation, after which it will dissolve. The Department of Law and Public Safety will provide staff support to the task force as needed.
