This bill mandates the Commissioner of Human Services, in collaboration with the Commissioner of Health, to create a public awareness campaign focused on doulas. The campaign aims to educate the public about the role of doulas in supporting individuals throughout the pregnancy process, the services they provide, and the evidence-based benefits associated with those services. Additionally, it will highlight available free or low-cost resources related to doula services in New Jersey.
To ensure broad accessibility, the campaign will include the development of printed and electronic educational materials in the ten most commonly spoken languages in the state. These materials will be made available for download on the Department of Human Services' website and distributed through various local entities, such as health agencies, clinics, reproductive health service providers, and community outreach programs. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
