This bill amends current law regarding the responsibilities of the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP) when dealing with cases of child abuse or neglect involving individuals with developmental disabilities. It stipulates that if a court finds an individual who has abused or neglected a child is in need of therapeutic services, the DCPP must consult with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to create a tailored services plan for that individual. This plan must take into account the individual's specific developmental disability and ensure that the services provided are appropriate.
Additionally, the bill outlines that the DDD is responsible for determining the best method to offer these services based on the individual's disability. This legislative change aims to enhance the support and care provided to individuals with developmental disabilities who are involved in child abuse or neglect cases, ensuring that their unique needs are addressed in the service planning process. The bill will take effect 90 days after its enactment.
