This bill mandates the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD), in collaboration with the Department of Health and the Department of Human Services, to launch a multimedia advertising campaign aimed at attracting candidates to health care professions. The campaign is designed to highlight the engaging and rewarding nature of careers in health care, while also promoting available scholarships, student loan redemption programs, and other financial support options. It will utilize various media platforms, including digital outlets, television, radio, and print, to reach a broad audience. Additionally, the DOLWD is tasked with creating targeted advertising to recruit health care professionals from underrepresented racial groups and to fill high-demand fields identified by the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development.

To support the implementation of this initiative, the bill appropriates $1 million to the DOLWD, which will be funded through the federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, Pub.L.117-2, as permitted by federal law. The bill aims to address the workforce shortages in the health care sector that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that the campaign effectively promotes the health care profession and encourages a diverse range of candidates to pursue careers in this critical field. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
