This bill amends existing labor laws in New Jersey to establish specific working hours for minors aged 14 and 15 who are employed by or as professional athletes. It allows these minors to work after 11 p.m. and into the early hours of the next day, provided that the work is a continuation of a shift that began before 11 p.m. This employment requires a special written permit from the minor's parents or legal guardian, detailing the hours they are allowed to work. However, the bill stipulates that minors cannot be employed after 3 a.m. or before 6 a.m. on days preceding a regularly scheduled school day.

Additionally, the bill maintains existing restrictions on working hours for minors under 18, including limits on the number of hours worked per week and per day, as well as specific time frames for work during school days and vacations. It also clarifies that minors aged 16 to 18 may work up to 50 hours in one week and 10 hours in one day during the summer months, with certain exceptions for employment in nonprofit or religious camps. The bill is set to take effect immediately upon enactment.
