This bill amends New Jersey law to expand eligibility for a special motor vehicle plate that was previously limited to holders of the Combat Infantryman Badge. The new language allows individuals who hold a Combat Action Ribbon, as certified on their DD-214 form or Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, to also apply for this distinctive plate. The chief administrator will issue these plates, which will feature the words "Combat Infantryman Badge" and the corresponding emblem, for a fee of $15 in addition to standard registration fees.

Additionally, the bill provides that the surviving spouse of a deceased holder of either the Combat Infantryman Badge or Combat Action Ribbon may retain the special license plates for use on a vehicle registered in their name. The chief administrator is tasked with establishing rules and regulations regarding the issuance and use of these plates. This change aims to ensure that Marines, who receive the Combat Action Ribbon, are not excluded from obtaining the special plates that honor their service.
