This bill establishes an Interagency Council on Menopause within the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) aimed at promoting and supporting access to best practice healthcare for individuals during their menopause transition and post-reproductive years. The council will consist of 15 members, including ex officio representatives from the DOH and the Department of Children and Families, as well as 12 public members appointed by the Governor. These public members will include individuals with experience in perimenopause and menopause, healthcare professionals, and representatives from women's health organizations. The council is tasked with organizing itself, selecting leadership, and meeting as necessary to fulfill its objectives.

The primary goals of the council include promoting health and quality of life during midlife, disseminating evidence-based knowledge to healthcare professionals, supporting research, facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders, and increasing awareness of menopause-related issues. Additionally, the council is responsible for developing state-supported treatment services and making policy recommendations to improve access to care for those experiencing menopause. The Commissioner of Health is required to report to the Governor and the Legislature on the council's activities and recommendations within 18 months of the bill's enactment and annually thereafter.
