By the time of her passing at age eight, her efforts had raised over one million dollars for childhood cancer research, leading to the establishment of the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation by her parents in 2005.

The resolution aims to raise public awareness about childhood cancer and commemorate Alex's birthday while celebrating her enduring impact through the foundation's ongoing work. It requests the Governor to issue an annual proclamation recognizing this day and encourages public officials and citizens to observe it with appropriate activities and programs. The resolution will take effect immediately upon passage.
