This bill establishes an Interagency Council on Menopause within the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) aimed at promoting and supporting access to best practice healthcare for individuals during their menopause transition and post-reproductive years. The council will consist of 15 members, including key officials from the DOH and 12 public members appointed by the Governor, who will represent various fields related to women's health, including individuals experiencing perimenopause and menopause, healthcare professionals, and advocates. The council is tasked with organizing itself, selecting leadership, and meeting as necessary to fulfill its objectives.

The primary goals of the council include promoting health and quality of life during midlife, disseminating evidence-based knowledge to healthcare professionals, supporting research on menopause-related health issues, and facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders. Additionally, the council will work to increase awareness and understanding of menopause through culturally sensitive resources and will develop a communication plan to share information about treatment options and services. The Commissioner of Health is required to report to the Governor and the Legislature on the council's activities and recommendations within 18 months of the bill's enactment and annually thereafter.
