This bill amends existing legislation to expand the requirements for the Commission on Human Trafficking to post public awareness signage in additional establishments. The current law mandates the development of a public awareness sign that includes the national, 24-hour toll-free hotline for reporting human trafficking. The bill specifies that the signage must be displayed in various locations, including strip clubs, massage therapy businesses, bars, airports, and public transportation, among others.

The proposed changes introduce new establishments where the signage must be posted, including gas stations, staffing agencies, State, county, and municipal law enforcement offices, nail salons, and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission offices. Additionally, the bill establishes penalties for non-compliance, with fines of $300 for a first offense and $1,000 for subsequent offenses. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
