This bill mandates that school districts in New Jersey, which include grades nine through twelve, incorporate instruction on the risks of compulsive gambling into their health and physical education curriculum. The instruction must cover topics such as the dangers of gambling addiction, the risks associated with personal finances and assets, and the distinction between probability and predictability. Additionally, the Commissioner of Education is tasked with providing sample learning activities and resources to assist school districts in this effort, as well as developing a training module for high school teachers that addresses the development of compulsive gambling behaviors, key indicators of gambling problems, and treatment implications.

The implementation of these requirements will take effect immediately but will only apply to the first full school year following the next review and update of the core curriculum content standards by the State Board of Education. This ensures that the new gambling instruction is integrated into the educational framework in a timely manner, aligning with the state's educational standards.
