This bill amends current New Jersey law to expand eligibility for free or reduced fee beach access to include individuals who have served in the New Jersey National Guard and were discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. Previously, only active members of the New Jersey National Guard who had completed Initial Active Duty Training, along with their spouses and dependent children over the age of 12, were eligible for such benefits. The new provision allows shore municipalities to extend these benefits to veterans of the New Jersey National Guard, thereby recognizing their service and providing them with greater access to recreational facilities.

Additionally, the bill includes a requirement for municipalities that offer free or reduced fees to track the number of qualifying individuals under the new provisions. It also clarifies that individuals qualifying for free access can present various forms of identification, such as military discharge documents or veteran identification cards, instead of a municipal beach tag. Furthermore, it stipulates that disabled veterans will not be charged fees for permits to operate motorized vehicles on beaches. This legislation aims to enhance the support and recognition of military service members and veterans within the community.
