This bill mandates the Secretary of Higher Education to establish and maintain a database specifically for Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) student admissions. The database will track the number of available student openings in EOF programs across participating institutions, enhancing communication between campus EOF directors and eligible students regarding potential placements. Additionally, if an eligible student has not secured a placement, the campus EOF director is required to inform the student about openings in EOF programs at other participating institutions.
Furthermore, the bill stipulates that each participating institution must promptly notify the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education when an EOF program opening is filled, with the office obligated to update the database within one business day of such notification. This initiative aims to streamline the admissions process and improve access to educational opportunities for eligible students. The act is set to take effect 90 days after its enactment.
