This bill mandates the Secretary of Higher Education to establish and maintain a comprehensive database that tracks admissions for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) student programs across participating institutions. The database will include details on the number of available student openings in EOF programs, which will be accessible to campus EOF directors to enhance communication regarding potential placements for eligible students. Additionally, if an eligible student is unable to secure a placement, the campus EOF director is required to provide information about openings at other participating institutions.
Furthermore, the bill stipulates that each participating institution must inform the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education when an EOF program opening is filled, with the office obligated to update the database within one business day of receiving such notifications. This initiative aims to streamline the admissions process and improve access to educational opportunities for eligible students within the EOF framework. The act is set to take effect 90 days after its enactment.
