The proposed bill establishes the Planning for an Aging Population Task Force in New Jersey, aimed at addressing the challenges posed by the state's growing aging population. The task force will consist of 23 members, including 16 ex officio members from various health and social service agencies, and seven public members appointed by the Governor, representing local offices on aging and senior citizens. The task force is tasked with analyzing demographic data, identifying existing resources and services for seniors, evaluating healthcare capacities, and consulting with relevant departments to assess the impact of the aging population on labor and housing markets.

Within 18 months of its formation, the task force is required to submit a comprehensive report to the Governor and Legislature detailing its findings, recommendations, and a proposed statewide action plan to address the needs of senior citizens. The task force will hold at least one hearing in each of the state's regions and will be supported by the Department of Human Services. It will dissolve 30 days after submitting its report. This initiative aims to ensure that senior citizens in New Jersey have adequate access to necessary programs and services in both the near and long-term future.
